How to prevent mold from growing after a water loss.

5/23/2019 (Permalink)

Mold grows quickly, it only takes 24-48 hours after water exposure for mold to start growing. Mold is commonly found on or under wood, drywall, ceiling tile, carpet and insulation.

The best ways to prevent mold are:

1. Open up windows and doors, if its less humid outside

2. Remove all debris and wet items then clean surfaces with disinfectants.

3.Get rid of anything tht the water soaked. Such as floor and ceiling tiles, drywall, carpet, etc.

4. Use fans to circulate the air and dry it out.

5. Use dehumidifiers to reduce the moisture content in the air.

6.Call SERVPRO of Des Moines NW to come do tests and to inspect for mold and to take steps to prevent mold from growing back.
